Salt Flour Dough & Carrots
This is one of our favorite simple recipes for fun.
Mix:
1 cup all-purpose flour (or the whole wheat flour you bought last time you wanted to be healthier that is sitting in the pantry)
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup warm water
Make whatever you want to make and then bake it on tin foil in the oven at 200 degrees until your creations are dry—or air-dry them if you’re not in a hurry. Salt-flour dough can also be painted once it is dry.
Also, carrots are one of the easiest and most popular vegetables you can grow from seed with children. I think she actually just dumped the seed package in this pot outside. I know we didn’t measure or water anything. Now, I am the proud owner of 500 carrots—including the one on the salt-flour plate above.
Note: If you actually want to eat them, it is helpful to limit the number of seeds and spread them out a little. I’m going to replant most of them in the garden, a scoop of dirt at a time, which is wasteful, yes, but will still leave me 459 carrots, which seems like plenty.
