Take a Math Walk

Take a walk through your neighborhood with big pieces of chalk. Establish a safe distance for your child to run ahead and give them an addition/subtraction fact or multiplication/division fact. Their goal is to run ahead and solve the problem before you walk past. We have also used this to draw shapes or write spelling words. If the fun starts wearing thin, let your children give you a fact and run ahead to write it before they reach you.

Note: This chalk is harder to wash off of decks or cement walls. We try to keep it on the sidewalk.
