Schedule for Homeschool

A couple of people have asked me what our homeschool schedule looks like. I am happy to add it to the conversation with the note that nothing is the "right" thing to do.

  • Get a quick breakfast and go outside for at least 45 minutes of exercise.

  • Work on structured academic work at the table until a short 10 a.m. snack break.

  • Pick up the less structured or messier subjects until lunch (like science or art projects)

  • Eat. Read a chapter to them on the couch and then take a break from each other for an hourish in different rooms.

  • Do errands, check on people, chores, free time, some screen time or personal projects. This is when I get my work done and the floor swept, etc...

  • Dessert is at 3. Always. Even in the pandemic.

  • Keep working on whatever you were doing before 3 until a half-hour before supper.

  • Straighten up messes and eat

  • Do dishes. Family time until 8.

  • Family devotions, get ready for bed, and read until lights out.
