Codes and Scavenger Hunts
We love codes! We do lots of different kinds of codes for fun and thought we’d share some of them with you.
Use the code cards to practice math or writing, to make your own codes for each other, or to practice sequencing as you move around faster and faster until everyone is giggling hysterically. Download the code sheets for Adventure Codes, Summertime Codes, or Everyday Codes—depending on the mood at your house.
Older kids can try this Sumerian Alphabet code free on teacherspayteachers.com and learn about the Sumerian civilization HERE or read the oldest known piece of epic world literature, Gilgamesh. Talk about the differences between the epic king and Jesus, our King. What is different between the story of the Flood in Genesis and the story recorded in the epic?
Or they can learn about Cherokee, Choctaw, and Navaho code talkers from WW1 and WWII HERE.
Try your hand at Morse Code HERE or bring Pig Latin to a whole new generation!. Or break the codes on the CIA Spy Kids Website. You can even learn to make a cipher wheel on Youtube.
Or use the Binary Code alphabet to write a secret code or your name using the worksheet found HERE.
